Meet Ishita Kishore, DU Alumnus, Who Topped UPSC 2022

Ishita Kishore, a graduate in economics, has emerged as the topper of UPSC CSE 2022 final results. She cracked the UPSC exam on her third attempt.

Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N and Smriti Mishra have secured the top ranks respectively, in the examinations.

Born in Greater Noida, Ishita hails from a family with a strong military background. Her father is an Indian Air Force officer. She is a graduate in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. She qualified UPSC 2022 examination with political science and international relations as her optional subject.

Apart from academics, Ishita has been an active sportsperson. She is interested in football, taekwondo, and basketball.

Ishita began her professional journey with joining Ernst and Young, where she contributed to their risk advisory department. She quit her corporate job in 2019, to pursue a career in the civil services.

Her decision to shift her focus toward the UPSC exams showcased her desire to do serve the country, like her father.

Ishita believes that discipline and sincere work is essential to crack UPSC exams.

She thinks that the ability to operate as a team, leadership abilities and the ability to make rapid and timely decisions and the ability to excel in a wide variety of activities is essential to be an all-rounder as a civil servant.

"One has to be disciplined and sincere to be able to achieve this," Ishita said.

"I don't know what exactly worked for me but personally what I tried to do was work on my mains examinations by practicing, looking at previous years' question papers, making notes from newspapers and revising them. I think all of them together helped me clear the exams," Kishore tweeted.

Ishita advised UPSC aspirants to maintain a positive mindset and confidence while preparing for the UPSC exams.

It is important to constantly re-evaluate your strategy to succeed, she added.
