Massive Fire Breaks Out In Delhi's Rohini; Over 800 Jhuggies Gutted In Fire, Several Injured
A massive fire broke out in Delhi's Rohini area on Sunday. According to the reports, over 800 jhuggis were engulfed by fire near Shri Niketan Apartment in Sector 17. The tragic incident claimed lives of two children, while several got injured.
After being informed, the firefighters reached the fire incident spot swiftly and extinguished the fire approximately after three hours of hard work and relentless efforts. Locals also helped firefighters to relocate and rescue people stuck there.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini), Amit Goel told media that bodies of two young victims, aged two-and-a-half and three years, were discovered among the debris.
The firefighting team faced significant challenges due to the site's layout. With an apartment complex and its boundary walls obstructing direct access, fire engines were forced to queue up in a line, complicating and delaying the response efforts. The devastation was complete, with residents losing everything from household goods to personal savings and vehicles. The fire not only consumed the jhuggi homes but also sent vast clouds of smoke billowing into the sky, marking a grim sight against the backdrop of New Delhi.
Authorities received the first distress call about the fire at 11:55 am, prompting an immediate response. Initially, 17 fire engines were sent to tackle the inferno. As the severity of the situation became apparent, the incident was escalated to a medium category fire, leading to the deployment of a total of 26 fire tenders to the scene. The fire's intensity and the thick smoke it generated posed a considerable challenge to the firefighters, who worked diligently to bring the situation under control. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) official stated that the fire was fully extinguished after more than three hours of efforts, and the ongoing cooling operations aim to prevent any resurgence of the flames.
