Married Woman Gang Raped On Moving Bus In Delhi; 2 Arrested

In a chilling echo of the 2012 Nirbhaya case, a 30-year-old married woman was allegedly gang-raped on a moving sleeper bus in North Delhi's Rani Bagh area on Monday night. Delhi Police have arrested the bus driver and conductor in connection with the assault and have seized the vehicle.

The survivor, a mother of three who works at a factory in Mangolpuri, was walking home to Pitampura on the night of May 11.

According to police reports, the incident around 11:00 pm after she approached a sleeper bus stopped near Saraswati Vihar to ask for the time.

She was allegedly forced onto the bus, which then began a two-hour journey covering approximately 7 km toward Nangloi.

The victim has claimed that she was being sexually assaulted by multiple individuals while the vehicle remained in motion.

Following a formal complaint and a medical examination of the survivor, the Delhi Police arrested both the driver and the conductor of the bus.

The vehicle, identified as belonging to Royal Travels & Cargo (headquartered in Faridabad), has been seized.

The officials stated that the investigation is being handled from "every possible angle" to ensure a comprehensive case.

The incident has sparked a sharp political reaction. AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj took to social media to condemn the incident, drawing direct parallels to the Nirbhaya case.

Bhardwaj wrote, "Big Shame - Nirbhaya repeated. 30 yr old woman was picked up in the bus at night on pretext of asking time. Then she was raped by multiple people in the moving bus for around 2 hours. Bus kept moving in Rani Bagh area of Delhi covering 7 km. What else do you expect from Delhi Police whose head Lt Gov Delhi wants us to watch his reels eating Chhole bhature & jalebi. He doesn't have time to meet us for 3 yr old school girl rape."
