Lunar Eclipse 2023: Things pregnant women should keep in mind
The first lunar eclipse of 2023, known as a penumbral lunar eclipse or Chandra Grahan, will be observed today at 8.44 pm.
The celestial event will be seen by people in India, Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and the islands of Oceania.

According to traditional beliefs, lunar eclipses are considered unlucky and people avoid performing puja, drinking, eating and even sleeping during this period.
Here are eight things pregnant women should keep in mind during lunar eclipse
- During a lunar eclipse, pregnant women stay indoors as it is believed that harmful rays emitted during this period could harm the growing foetus.
- Pregnant women are also advised to use any sharp objects, such as blades, scissors, etc.
- People generally avoid eating anything during lunar eclipse. However, pregnant women are allowed to eat fresh fruits or satvik food and to take medicines.
- Pregnant women are advised to keep the windows and doors covered during the lunar eclipse.
- Some people also engage in meditation and mantra chanting during lunar eclipse.
- Pregnant women are advised to take baths before and after lunar eclipse to avoid any negative effects.
- Pregnant women should not wear any metallic jewellery, including bangles, pins, safety pins, etc.
- Sleeping during a moon eclipse is strictly prohibited.
