AK Bhat replaces Lt Gen Ranbir Singh who will now be part of the 1 Strike Corps at Mathura
New Delhi, Nov 28: Lieutenant General AK Bhat has been appointed as the new Director General of Military Operations (DGMO).
He replaces Lt Gen Ranbir Singh who will now be part of the 1 Strike Corps at Mathura.
Lt Gen Bhat is from the Gorkha rifles and is currently posted in Army headquarters.
It may be recalled that was during the tenure of Lt Gen Ranbir Singh India carried out surgical strikes at five separate locations in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to target terrorist camps.
The cabinet panel also approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs to appoint Lt. Gen Shokin Chauhan as Director General of Assam Rifles on deputation basis for a period of two years with effect from the date of his assumption of charge or till his retirement from the Army or until further orders.
