LG VK Saxena's Speech In Delhi Assembly: Green Delhi, Clean Yamuna, Better Drinking Water To Be Govt's Focus

Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena on Tuesday addressed newly elected members of the Delhi Assembly Session. LG highlighted the new government's key focus areas such as corruption-free governance, women's empowerment, a cleaner city, Yamuna rejuvenation, and access to clean drinking water.

During the session, Speaker Vijender Gupta suspended 12 AAP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Atishi and MLA Gopal Rai. This action followed uproar and slogan-chanting by AAP members as the Lieutenant Governor began his speech. The chaos led to their removal from the House, after which they protested outside with posters of Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Focus on Governance and Accountability

Lieutenant Governor Saxena noted that past conflicts and blame games over the last decade have negatively impacted Delhi. He assured that his administration would collaborate with the central government and other states to address these issues effectively. The aim is to foster a more harmonious working environment for better governance.

The newly established BJP-led government in Delhi, headed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, is set to present 14 reports by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on the second day of the eighth legislative assembly session. These reports are anticipated to reveal financial discrepancies during the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration.

Political Tensions and Financial Scrutiny

Delhi BJP chief Virendraa Sachdeva commented on the significance of these reports. "CAG report is a list of the black deeds of AAP. We had promised the people of Delhi during the elections that whoever has committed corruption will have to answer. Today, we hope that after the speech of LG, when the CAG report will be tabled, all their black deeds will come before the people of Delhi," he stated.

The presentation of these reports aims to hold accountable those responsible for any financial misconduct under AAP's rule. This move aligns with BJP's electoral promise to address corruption and ensure transparency in governance.
