Kejriwal Wins Floor Test In Delhi Assembly, AAP Secures Majority

Before the no-confidence vote, CM Arvind Kejriwal appeared via video link before a Delhi court in connection with the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) complaint against him for ignoring five summons in the liquor policy case. Kejriwal stated that due to the floor test in the Delhi Assembly, he would not be able to appear physically before the court. The court fixed March 16 for his physical appearance.

Delhi CM's lawyer, Ramesh Gupta, stated, "Arvind Kejriwal moved an application for exemption from personal appearance before the Rouse Avenue court, which was accepted. ASG Raju, representing ED, did not oppose the application. The court has fixed March 16 as the next date of hearing. If everything goes well, Kejriwal ji should be appearing before the court on the next date of hearing and he should also get bail in the matter."

During the trust vote in the House on Friday, Kejriwal reiterated his claim that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was attempting to poach AAP MLAs to overthrow his administration.

On January 27, Kejriwal alleged that the BJP had offered Rs 25 crore each to seven AAP MLAs to topple his government. The BJP called the claim "absurd and baseless." Delhi BJP state president Virendra Sachdeva, opposition leader in the Delhi Assembly Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, and North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari filed a complaint with Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora on January 30, requesting a probe into the Chief Minister's statements. A crime branch team visited the CM's home on February 3 to issue a notice regarding the MLA poaching accusations, sparking a political controversy.
