Kejriwal Slams Congress, Accuses INDIA Bloc Partner Of Collaborating With BJP To Corner AAP
Ex-Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor, has slammed its INDIA bloc partner Congress, accusing the grand old party of collaborating with the BJP to target his party.
This statement comes amidst protests by women from Punjab outside his Delhi residence. "Congress should not worry about us," Mr Kejriwal remarked. "Those women belong to their (Congress and BJP) party. They have not come from Punjab, the women in Punjab are with us. They have faith in AAP. Congress and BJP should officially announce that they are contesting elections together against AAP in Delhi."

Allegations and Promises
Women from Punjab accused the AAP-led government of failing to deliver on its promise of Rs 1,000 monthly for every woman in the state. The protesters claim similar schemes are being planned for Delhi ahead of upcoming assembly elections. In response, Mr Kejriwal highlighted AAP's achievements, such as providing free water to over 12 lakh families in Delhi.
The former Chief Minister dismissed Congress's relevance, urging people not to take "them seriously". He alleged that issues like high water bills arose during his absence but assured residents that incorrect bills would be waived once the AAP forms the government again. "I want to publicly and officially announce that those who think their bills are wrong, they need not pay. Wait for the elections; AAP will form the government, and we will waive off those wrong bills," he promised.
Political Reactions
Congress has seized this opportunity to criticise AAP's governance, claiming it deceived women in Punjab and is now attempting the same in Delhi. "Just like AAP deceived the women of Punjab, they are now planning to deceive the women of Delhi," Congress stated, urging voters not to be swayed by "false promises." They emphasised their 15-year governance record in transforming Delhi's image.
The controversy surrounding welfare schemes intensified after an inquiry was ordered by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena into allegations of unauthorised data collection for Mahila Samman Yojana. This scheme aims to register women for benefits but faces claims of private individuals collecting personal information without official approval.
BJP's Election Strategy
Meanwhile, rhe BJP announced its first list of candidates for the 2025 Delhi assembly elections today. Pervesh Verma will take on Kejriwal in New Delhi constituency while Ramesh Bidhuri will face Atishi in Kalkaji.
In 2020 assembly polls, AAP achieved a significant victory by winning 62 out of 70 seats.
Congress leader Pawan Khera questioned Mr Kejriwal's confidence amid these developments: "Is he scared? The people of Delhi aren't fools. The people will give him an answer in the elections." As political tensions rise, all parties are gearing up for a competitive electoral battle.
