John Kerry congratulates Sushma Swaraj, discusses Indo-US ties

According to an MEA spokesperson, Kerry was one of the first international leaders to call Swaraj.
During the call, focus was on enhancing trade and economic ties to USD 500 billion, the spokesperson said. Sushma too emphasised on strenghtening the partnership between the two countries that had off-lately seen a few cracks.
She also briefed Kerry on India's engagement with the SAARC countries including Pakistan and both are looking forward to meeting each other, the spokesperson said.
Sushma, who took charge of the MEA on Wednesday said that the meeting between the PM and SAARC leaders had gone smoothly. She also said that the meeting between the PM and Pak PM Nawaz Shairf was on a positive note.
