New Delhi, May 25: Congress General Secretary Shakeel Ahmad on Saturday made a couple of taunting remarks on Twitter at the new government's friendly gestures towards neighbouring Pakistan. Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif was invited to attend the swearing-in of the next Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on May 26 and the latter accepted it despite the domestic hurdles.

In one of his tweets, Ahmad asked whether Sharif was coming to India alone or underworld don Dawood Ibrahim was accompanying him. In another tweet, Ahmad said the nation should ensure that no Biriyani was served during Sharif's visit.

One may recall here that Modi launched attacks on the previous UPA government's initiative of having friendly talks with a former Pakistani premier while troops of that country were attacking Indian border posts and also mercilessly killed its soldiers.

Last month, Modi took a sharp dig at the former Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde for openly speaking about bringing back Dawood Ibrahim, one of India's most wanted men. Modi said these issues are not meant for open discussions and Shinde should have maintained a secrecy. [Read here]

In January, Dawood's close aide Chhota Shakeel mocked Shinde after he said that Dawood would be caught anytime. [Read here]

Ahmad also said that there is no atmosphere for serious talks between India and Pakistan at the moment.

However, the Congress stood a divided house while reacting to the invitation given to Sharif.
