Indian, Pakistani foreign secretaries to meet in Islamabad on Aug 25

The last time the foreign secretaries had met was in 2012 in Islamabad. This is seen as an innovative effort by the Narendra Modi government after the former invited Pak PM for his swearing in ceremony in a bid to improve India's relation with Pakistan.
The meeting is likely to be held on August 25 between India's foreign secretary Sujatha Singh and her Pakistani counterpart Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry.
MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said: "It is almost two months since the Prime Ministers agreed that the foreign secretaries will keep in touch and explore how to move forward." He then said that the foreign secretaries had a telephonic conversation.
"During the conversation they agreed to meet on August 25," he said.
