IIT Delhi UG Placements Hit Three-Year High with 850 Offers

About 850 distinct job offers have been made to undergraduate students at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi so far this year, which is the most in the previous three placement cycles. According to institute administrators, this year's performance represents a significant improvement from the 712 offers the institute received in 2022, 768 in 2023, and 781 in 2024.

During the current placement season, a number of top recruiters have made double-digit employment offers to IIT Delhi's undergraduate students. Among them are well-known businesses like Google, Microsoft, Oracle, PayU, Squarepoint Capital, Texas Instruments, American Express, Barclays, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Deutsche India Pvt. Ltd., and Graviton Research Capital.

The placement process has also involved significant participation from Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Undergraduate students from the institute have been employed by companies such the Centre for Development of Telematics, Petronet LNG Ltd., Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL).

This year, students have received over 40 overseas offers in addition to local placements. Reputable companies with offices in the US, UK, Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Taiwan, the United Arab Emirates, and the Netherlands have made these offers, underscoring IIT Delhi's expanding international reach.

About 30% of students in the graduating class of 2024 chose non-placement job pathways, according to an exit survey the institute performed. Of this group, 17% studied for competitive tests like the civil or engineering services, 7% chose self-employment or entrepreneurship, and 6% decided to continue their education. The UG class of 2025 is expected to follow a similar pattern, indicating that students' tastes for careers are becoming more diverse.

The head of IIT Delhi's Office of Career Services (OCS), Professor Naresh Varma Datla, was upbeat about the placement season. He remarked, "IIT Delhi got off to a great start and has been doing very well so far."

"We anticipate that this encouraging trend will continue. The OCS is still dedicated to expanding the range of businesses and positions available on campus so that students can find jobs that fit their interests and abilities.

Officials are optimistic that the final count will further cement this year as one of the institute's greatest in recent memory, even though placements are still being made.
