Free LPG for Low-Income Women Before Holi, Says Delhi CM Rekha Gupta

Good news for poor families in Delhi! The city government said on Tuesday that they're giving out free cooking gas to women from low-income homes before Holi in March. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta decided this at a meeting, keeping another promise made during the election.

This should really help thousands of families save money on cooking during the holidays.

It's All About the Election Promise

The BJP promised free gas cylinders for women with ration cards during Diwali and Holi. They also said other poor families could buy gas for about ₹500.

Rekha Gupta mentioned this again during the Delhi elections in November, saying they'd keep their promises, like the gas money and giving ₹2,500 a month to poor women, once they won.

How the Holi Gas Thing Works

Women who qualify will get a free gas tank for Holi. The government thinks this will cost around ₹300 crore, and a lot of people in Delhi will get it.

This is just for Holi this time, but it's like what they planned for Diwali and shows they want to help out regularly during important times.

Other Ways the Government is Helping

Since taking over, the BJP government in Delhi has been quick to do things they promised in their election plan. For example, they're now using the Ayushman Bharat health plan to help more people get medical care. Plus, they've started Atal Canteens where people can get good food for only ₹5.

These things show they want to give people quick help and also make sure they can get help for a long time.

CM Rekha Gupta Says They'll Keep Their Word

Rekha Gupta keeps saying they're going to do what they promised. She said the Holi gas thing is just one part of helping women who don't have much money, especially when things are getting more expensive.
