A low-intensity explosion rocked Delhi's Prashant Vihar area in Rohini today, with the blast originating from a scooter parked near a sweet shop.

Details of the Explosion and Immediate Response

Upon receiving the blast alert, Delhi police quickly deployed the bomb disposal team to the site. The explosion caused minor injuries to the driver of a three-wheeler parked near the blast location. The area has since been cordoned off, with surrounding shops in the vicinity instructed to close down for safety reasons.

Delhi Fire Services also rushed four fire tenders to the scene. An official confirmed that fire teams are on-site, working in coordination with police forces to investigate the incident.

Investigation and Preliminary Findings

Police officials revealed that the explosion was a low-intensity blast, and authorities found white powder near the site. Investigators are examining the material to determine whether it could be related to explosive substances, as reported by Hindustan Times. The blast occurred outside a popular sweet shop in Prashant Vihar, prompting nearby shops to shut down as a precautionary measure.

In addition to the bomb disposal unit, the police have deployed a dog squad and other local police forces to assist in the investigation. Senior officers, including Additional Commissioner of Police Rajeev Ranjan, have also arrived at the scene to oversee the probe.

Potential Link to Previous Blast

According to sources, this morning's blast bears similarities to another incident that occurred last month outside a CRPF school in the same area. However, authorities have not yet confirmed any direct link between the two explosions. The October 20 blast, which occurred near a CRPF school boundary wall, was later identified as a crude bomb explosion, and investigators are exploring if there is a connection, as per media reports. The police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the explosion, with further updates expected as the situation develops.
