Election Commission raps parties, asks them not to cross boundaries

The EC said that right to freedom and expression must not cross the boundaries of decency. This comes to light a day after the National Commission for Minorities asked the EC to take actions against AAP candidate Kumar Vishwas for hurting religious sentiments.
EC: Parties must maintain high standards during election campaigns
In a letter to all parties EC said ‘burgeoning tide of complaints and counter - complaints' received b y the panel had emerged from the use of abusive language.
"The gravity of the situation can be gauged from the fact that the ECI has seized petitions from two national parties seeking each other's derecognition for repeated violations of the model code."
The EC said that since the panel could not take an extreme step, it had the authority to give a notice to all political parties.
