Don't want 'azadi' from India, we want 'azadi' in India: Kanhaiya Kumar

New Delhi, March 3: A day after the Delhi High Court granted Kanhaiya Kumar bail in the sedition case against him, Kumar received a rousing welcome at the JNU on Thursday night.

Speaking to students here, Kumar said that ‘we don't want azadi from India, we want azadi in India . "We don't look at ABVP as enemy, we look at them like Opposition. There is no ill feeling towards ABVP. We truly respect the Indian constitution," he said.

Thanking people for supporting JNU, Kumar continued: "I thank all those who stood by JNU. It is not easy to get admission to JNU, just as it is not easy to forget the people of JNU."

Hitting out at the government, Kanhaiya said: "I have many differences with the PM but I agree with his tweet Satyameva Jayate because these words are in our Constitution," he said.

"PM Narendra Modi talks about 'Mann ki baat' but does not listen. This is a planned attack, to delegitimise UGC protests, to prevent justice to Rohith Vemula."

"We want freedom not from India but from those who are ransacking India," he said. No one can dilute our struggle, he said. "The struggle is long. The more you try to suppress us, the higher we will rise," he said.
