Delhi Woman Dies In Tragic Roller Coaster Mishap Months Before Her Wedding

A 24-year-old woman tragically lost her life in a roller coaster accident at a well-known amusement park on the outskirts of Delhi, just months before her wedding.

The victim, identified as Priyanka, had been visiting the Fun n Food Water Park near Kapashera in South West Delhi with her fiancé on Thursday when a ride malfunction led to a fatal fall.

According to police reports, Priyanka was at the water and amusement park with her fiancé, Nikhil. The outing turned disastrous when the structural support of a roller coaster-style ride failed while the couple were aboard.

Seated in a swing-like carriage, Priyanka fell from a significant height after the support gave way. She sustained critical injuries and was rushed to hospital by Nikhil, but sadly succumbed to her injuries.

Take a Poll

Priyanka had been engaged since January 2023, with the wedding scheduled for February 2026. Her family stated that she was keen to achieve financial independence before marrying. She worked as a sales manager at a private telecom firm in nearby Noida and had expressed a desire to support her family before tying the knot with Nikhil.

Her family, who live in Chanakyapuri, had agreed to the delayed marriage timeline, as had Nikhil, a resident of Najafgarh. According to Priyanka's brother, Mohit, the couple shared a close bond and encouraged each other's goals.

Police revealed that the couple arrived at the amusement park at around 1 p.m. on Thursday. After spending the early afternoon enjoying water rides, they proceeded to the amusement area in the evening. At approximately 6:15 p.m., they boarded the roller coaster ride.

Nikhil informed police that as the swing reached its highest point, a support structure failed, causing Priyanka to fall. She suffered extensive injuries, including a visible laceration on the right leg, a puncture wound on the left leg, and trauma to her forearm and knee.

Police attended the hospital to obtain the medical report and later handed over the body to her family following a post-mortem examination. A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under sections 289 (negligent conduct concerning animals or machinery) and 106 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder due to negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the new criminal code that recently replaced the Indian Penal Code.

The management of Fun and Food Village has yet to issue an official statement. The park has not responded to media enquiries, and the section where the incident occurred remains closed.
