Delhi Weather Alert: Heatwaves Coming Soon? Weather Forecast From Today Till 14th June
According to the India Meteorological Department's Regional Centre in Delhi, the next few days have several yellow alerts. For today, there are alerts of storms and gusty winds.
From day after onwards, heatwaves seem to be making a comeback in the region, with temperatures reaching above 45°C soon.

Delhi Weather For The Next Week:
For today, 8 June, a yellow alert has been given out for the possibility of a thunderstorm or dust storm hitting the region. There is also the possibility of light rain, according to the forecast, alongside partly cloudy skies and gusty winds during the day.
Tomorrow, 9 June, the day will have mainly clear skies and some strong winds reaching between 25 km/h to 35 km/h.
From 10 June till 12 June, yellow alerts have been given out for heatwaves for all three days. No severe heatwave warnings have been given out despite temperatures potentially going even higher in the days after.
Delhi Temperatures Over The Next Week:
The temperatures for today aren't of the level to qualify as a heatwave, with most parts of the union territory having maximum temperatures that fluctuate between 42°C to 44°C.
Tomorrow, the temperature may rise a little, but day after onwards, many parts of Delhi may experience temperatures rising up to 45°C, with some parts like Mungeshpur, Najafgarh, Ayanagar, Narela, Pitampura, and Pusa going all the way up to 46°C to 47°C.
Even after the yellow alerts for heatwaves, temperatures may not go down to normal levels immediately, so readers are warned to prepare themselves accordingly.
IMD's Advice For Today:
While IMD hasn't given out any warnings for the heatwaves coming soon, they have given some advice on their bulletin board for the potential storms today. That advice being:
- Check for traffic congestion on your route before leaving for your destination.
- Follow any traffic advisories that are issued in this regard.
- Stay away from power lines or electrical wires.
- Stay indoors, close windows & doors and avoid travel if possible.
- Take safe shelters; do not take shelter under trees.
- Do not lie on concrete floors and do not lean against concrete walls.
- Unplug electrical or electronic appliances.
