Delhi Water Cut: Areas Affected

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has announced a 16-hour water supply shutdown starting at 8 pm on September 10 due to essential maintenance work. This will affect several areas in north Delhi.

Residents in Gopalpur, Gujranwala Town, DDA SFS Flat Mukherjee Nagar, JJ cluster in Azadpur Mandi, Azadpur Police Station, Wazirpur Industrial Area, Shalimar Bagh, Lawrence Road, Punjabi Bagh, and nearby regions will experience water disruptions. The DJB has advised residents to use water judiciously during this period.

The maintenance work involves repairing a 1500 mm diameter pipeline at IndraVihar park, which originates from the Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant (WTP). This repair is crucial for ensuring the long-term reliability of the water supply system.

The DJB tweeted, "A shutdown for 16 hrs w.e.f. 8 pm on dated 10-9-24 is being taken for repairing of 1500 mm dia Punjabi bagh main at IndraVihar park emanating from wazirabad WTP. Due to above the water supply in 1500 mm Punjabi Bagh main emanating from 3rd 40 MGD plant will be stopped. Inconvenience caused is deeply regretted."

To mitigate the inconvenience caused by this shutdown, the DJB has arranged for water tankers to be available upon request. Residents can contact the DJB helpline at 1916 or the Central Control Room. Additionally, an emergency helpline number, 9650291442, has been provided for urgent needs.
