Delhi Traffic Alert: Diversions in Place Around Red Fort Post Blast, Check Routes Before Heading Out

Monday's car blast near Delhi's iconic Red Fort left at least nine dead and around 20 injured, sending shockwaves across the city. The high-intensity explosion gutted several vehicles, and the sound of the blast was reportedly heard kilometres away. In the aftermath, Delhi traffic has been severely impacted due to road closures and diversions announced by authorities.

Delhi Traffic: Routes Closed

Traffic along Netaji Subhash Marg from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut has been restricted. These restrictions came into effect at 6:00 AM on 11 November and will remain in place until further notice.

The Delhi Traffic Police advisory stated:"On 11.11.25, due to exigencies, traffic restrictions and diversions will be in place on both carriageways and service roads of Netaji Subhash Marg from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut."

Commuters are urged to avoid these routes and use alternative roads for a hassle-free journey. The advisory added:"No vehicles shall be allowed on Netaji Subhash Marg from Chatta Rail Cut to Subhash Marg Cut on that day and vice versa."

Security Tightened Across Delhi

Security has been beefed up across Delhi and other cities. Vigilance has increased around airports, Delhi Metro stations, heritage sites, government buildings, and other key installations.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) posted on X:"In the wake of the explosion near Red Fort Metro station, installations secured by CISF in the NCR, including Delhi Metro, Red Fort, government buildings, and IGI Airport, have been placed on high alert. The situation is being constantly monitored, and personnel are on standby."

The US Embassy in India also issued a travel advisory urging citizens to avoid crowded areas near the Red Fort and Chandni Chowk and stay alert while traveling.
