Delhi: Tent House Store Catches Fire, 3 Men Burnt To Death
In a tragic incident in East Delhi's Anand Vihar, three migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh lost their lives when a fire engulfed their tent early Tuesday. The victims, Kanta Prasad (37), Jaggi (30), and Shyam Singh (40), were working on a contract for Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL). A case of causing death by negligence has been filed by the police.
The workers resided in temporary accommodation under a tent near Manglam Road, close to the Rotary Club office. According to the fire department, they received an emergency call about the fire at 2:22 a.m., and three fire tenders were dispatched immediately. The blaze was controlled by 2:50 a.m., as stated by a fire official.
Fire Incident Details
Nitin Singh (32), another worker who shared the tent with the victims, managed to escape the flames. Unfortunately, the other three could not make it out in time. Initial investigations suggest that a lamp used for lighting the tent sparked the fire, which then caused a gas cylinder to explode.
The lamp was used as a night light for the occupants who had locked their makeshift door before sleeping. "The spot has been inspected by the fire brigade, Crime team, and FSL team. Bodies of the deceased have been shifted to a mortuary for autopsy," said a police official.

Police Investigation
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam confirmed that an FIR has been registered at Anand Vihar police station for causing death by negligence. Statements from Nitin Singh and Rampal, father of Kanta and Shyam Singh, have been recorded as part of the investigation.
A police source revealed that Rampal was questioned about how one person managed to escape while three others perished. "Rampal also lived in the same makeshift tent but had gone out after dinner when the fire spread," explained the source.
