Delhi Rains | Delhi Takes a Sigh Of Relief In Rain: Watch Viral Rain Videos!
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced, on June 21, that monsoon conditions are favorable for advancing further into additional regions, including parts of the north Arabian Sea, Gujarat, the remaining areas of Maharashtra, and several more regions such as Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and parts of East Uttar Pradesh over the next 3-4 days.
Heavy Rain Alerts and Warnings

The IMD has issued a red alert for the coastal regions of Karnataka, south interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe, Konkan, and Goa, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall and extremely heavy rainfall from June 21 to 25.

An orange alert has been issued for isolated heavy rains in Madhya Maharashtra, Bihar, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, north interior Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu-Pondicherry-Karaikal for the same period.
On June 20, several areas including Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Bihar, and West Madhya Pradesh experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall, with extremely heavy downpours in some isolated locations. Coastal and North Interior Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Odisha, Jharkhand, and East Madhya Pradesh also reported heavy rainfall in certain isolated places, as per Business Today.
Western Disturbance and Cyclonic Circulations
The IMD has also forecasted moderate rains for parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi on June 21. A Western Disturbance is currently observed as a cyclonic circulation over Himachal Pradesh and its vicinity at lower and middle tropospheric levels, with an induced cyclonic circulation over northwest Uttar Pradesh.
Delhi experienced rainfall today amidst an ongoing heatwave. Areas like RK Puram saw rain, providing a welcome respite from the oppressive heat that has enveloped the region. Similar conditions were noted in the National Capital Region (NCR), including Gurugram, as reported by ANI. The weather office also predicted thunderstorms and light rain for other parts of the city later today, with maximum temperatures expected around 40 degrees Celsius.

A cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and its neighborhood is likely to cause widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal over the next five days.
Another cyclonic circulation is present over Bihar and adjoining East Uttar Pradesh, with an east-west trough extending from northeast Rajasthan to Manipur at lower tropospheric levels. This is expected to bring fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) to Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands over the next five days. Additionally, heavy rainfall is predicted for Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh in the next seven days, influenced by lower-level easterlies from the Bay of Bengal.

Heatwave Conditions and Temperature Drop
With temperatures in North India dropping by 2-3 degrees Celsius, the IMD has lifted heatwave warnings for most areas, except for some parts of Uttar Pradesh. The forecast on June 21 indicates that isolated heatwave conditions may persist in West Uttar Pradesh from June 21-24 and in the Jammu division from June 23-25, with an expected abatement thereafter, as per media reports.
The highest maximum temperature recorded on June 20 was 43.8 degrees Celsius in Sirsa (Haryana). Maximum temperatures were reported in the range of 40-42°C in several parts of West Rajasthan, southern Uttar Pradesh, and northern Madhya Pradesh, as well as in isolated areas of Haryana-Delhi, East Rajasthan, and Gujarat.
