Delhi Police Arrests Gang Who Killed Cab Drivers
The RK Puram Crime Branch of Delhi Police has made a significant arrest, capturing a serial killer involved in the murders of cab drivers. The gang, led by Ajay Lamba, targeted drivers by booking rides to Uttarakhand. Once there, they killed the drivers and disposed of their bodies in ravines. The stolen vehicles were then sold in Nepal.
Ajay Lamba was apprehended near India Gate after evading capture for over a decade. He had been hiding in Nepal, where he married a local woman. Previously, Lamba faced charges related to drug offences and a robbery in Odisha. His arrest is a major success for the police.

Grim Discoveries and Ongoing Investigations
Police have linked the gang to at least four murders, with only one body recovered so far. The victims were cab drivers hired for trips to Uttarakhand, where they were killed and their bodies discarded in remote areas like Almora and Haldwani. Many other missing cab drivers are suspected victims.
The gang's operations spanned Delhi and Uttarakhand between 2001 and 2003. They rendered drivers unconscious before strangling them and disposing of their bodies in ravines. This method made it challenging for authorities to locate remains.
Uncovering the Gang's Modus Operandi
The gang's strategy involved hiring cabs under false pretences, leading drivers into isolated regions before killing them. After committing murder, they sold the vehicles across the border in Nepal to cover their tracks effectively.
Dheeraj, another key member of the gang, remains at large. Authorities hope that interrogating Lamba will lead to his capture and provide further insights into their criminal activities.
Future Arrests and Justice for Victims
Delhi Police plan to question both Lamba and Dheeraj together once captured, aiming to uncover more about their operations and potential additional victims. The investigation is ongoing, with more arrests expected as new information emerges.
The chilling case highlights the dangers faced by cab drivers and underscores the need for improved safety measures within the transport sector. Authorities are committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice while continuing efforts to find missing individuals linked to this brutal gang.
