Delhi Nursery Admissions 2025: Important Dates and Eligibility Criteria
The registration for nursery admissions in Delhi's private schools has started. The Directorate of Education (DoE) opened the process on November 28 for nursery, kindergarten, and first grade. Parents can apply to around 1,741 schools. Application forms and criteria are available on school websites. The deadline for applications is December 20, with the first admission list set to be released on January 17, 2025.
Admission Criteria and Points System

Proximity to the school is a key factor in admissions. Other criteria include being an only child, a girl, having siblings at the school, or being from a single-parent family. Special considerations are given to Sikh and Christian minorities, economically disadvantaged families, and parents with disabilities.
Private schools use a 100-point system to evaluate applications. Proximity is highly valued in this system. Residences within 6 km of the school receive 50 points. Those between 6 and 8 km earn 40 points, while homes located between 8 and 15 km get 30 points.
Parents interested in enrolling their children should visit the official websites of the respective private schools for more details. The application process is entirely online, making it convenient for parents to submit their forms before the deadline.
The admission process aims to ensure fairness by considering various factors that may affect a child's access to education. This includes giving priority to children who may face challenges due to their family circumstances or location.
This structured approach helps schools manage the high demand for limited seats while ensuring that children from diverse backgrounds have an opportunity to gain admission based on merit and need.
The first general admission list will provide clarity on which students have secured places in their preferred schools. Parents are advised to keep track of updates on school websites as they navigate this important step in their child's education journey.
Overall, Delhi's nursery admissions process is designed to balance accessibility with fairness, ensuring that all eligible children have a chance at quality education in private institutions across the city.
