IMD Issues Red Alert For Delhi
This indeed is a day to cherish the long dead duration of heatwave but a few hours of rain just made it worse. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issueda red alert for Delhi as it is expected to rain throughout the day.

Apart from Delhi IMD also forecast heavy rainfall in Haryana, Chandigarh and parts of West Uttar Pradesh till July 10. Waterlogging, traffic jams are expected.
According to the IMD, Delhi's Safdarjung weather station recorded 72.6 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Thursday.

Apart from Safdarjung, other weather stations also reported significant rainfall.

It is a great relief for the residents of Delhi NCR that the temperature settled at 24.3 degrees celsius which is 3.6 degrees below the normal.

The heavy rain also uprooted trees in several areas.
According to the Delhi Fire Service, two trees fell on Raja Dhir Singh Marg in East of Kailash. One tree collapsed near the ISKCON Temple, while another fell outside the National Heart Institute, disrupting traffic in the area.
