Apart from Delhi IMD also forecast heavy rainfall in Haryana, Chandigarh and parts of West Uttar Pradesh till July 10. Waterlogging, traffic jams are expected.
According to the IMD, Delhi's Safdarjung weather station recorded 72.6 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Thursday.

Several Weather Stations Record Heavy Rain

Apart from Safdarjung, other weather stations also reported significant rainfall.

  • Ridge: 77.8 mm
  • Palam: 63.0 mm
  • Ayanagar: 57.4 mm

It is a great relief for the residents of Delhi NCR that the temperature settled at 24.3 degrees celsius which is 3.6 degrees below the normal.

Dislike it, but this is the new normal, monsoon means waterlogging, traffic in the bigger cities even in the national capital.
The heavy rain also uprooted trees in several areas.

According to the Delhi Fire Service, two trees fell on Raja Dhir Singh Marg in East of Kailash. One tree collapsed near the ISKCON Temple, while another fell outside the National Heart Institute, disrupting traffic in the area.

Emergency teams were deployed to clear the roads and restore traffic movement.

Air Quality Improves After Rain

Well, as winters and summers give no relief in the air quality, monsoon does. The fresh spell of rain has brought some relief from pollution. Believing the Central Pollution Board (CPCB), Delhi's Air Quality Index stood at 61 at 9 am that comes under the 'Satisfactory' category.

As its raining in Delhi NCR, CJP leader Abhijeet Dipke asked for tarpaulins, but the Delhi Police is allowing to take it inside.
