According to the police, the tree was uprooted during heavy rain in Dwarka's Baba Haridas Nagar, causing it to fall on the wall of an MCD school.

The two men, who were taking shelter nearby, were trapped under the tree and debris. They were rescued by locals and taken to a hospital.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for several parts of Delhi-NCR, forecasting light to moderate rain or thunderstorms with gusty winds (30-40 km/hour). Waterlogging was reported in various areas, including East Delhi, South East Delhi, and Central Delhi.

The Delhi Traffic Police advised that "traffic is affected on Rohtak Road on the carriageway from Nangloi towards Tikri Border due to potholes and waterlogging. Kindly avoid Mundka and take an alternate route accordingly," as posted on X.

In addition, visuals on social media showed severe flooding in the Delhi airport's cargo area.

The Lodhi Road observatory recorded 12 mm of rainfall between 11.30 pm on Friday and 2.30 am on Saturday, according to the IMD.

The continuous rainfall brought Delhi's minimum temperature down to 25.8 degrees Celsius, 1.2 degrees below the seasonal average.

In Haryana, the IMD predicted light to moderate rainfall in areas like Mattanhail, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar, Kosali, Nuh, and Hodal.

Uttar Pradesh is also expected to see showers in regions such as Siyana, Jattari, Nandgaon, Barsana, Mathura, and Agra.

Additionally, light rainfall and drizzle are likely in Manesar, Sohana, Rewari, Palwal, Narnaul, Bawal, and other nearby locations.
