Delhi Metro Yellow Line Update: Commuters Brace For Delays!

Delhi Metro's Yellow Line will experience reduced train speeds between Chhatarpur and Sultanpur stations starting April 2. This temporary speed restriction is due to tunnel construction work for the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced this speed reduction in a social media post, stating, "A temporary speed restriction of 20 KMPH has been imposed between Chhatarpur & Sultanpur on Yellow Line due to construction of a tunnel for the Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor of Ph 4. This may cause a slight delay in services."

Construction is underway for a 65.2-km stretch encompassing three priority corridors: Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg, Majlis Park-Maujpur, and Aerocity-Tughlakabad. These corridors, spanning 45 stations, are part of DMRC's Phase 4 project. The Janakpuri West-RK Ashram Marg and Majlis Park-Maujpur corridors are extensions of the Magenta Line and Pink Line, respectively. The Aerocity-Tughlakabad corridor, known as the Golden Line, will connect the Violet Line and the Airport Line.

DMRC recently announced its new integrated operation control centre, inaugurated by Managing Director Vikas Kumar. This centre is equipped to handle operations on the Phase-IV corridors, providing a centralised control room for the upcoming new corridors. Previously, the operations control centres for the Red Line and Yellow Line were located at Shastri Park Metro station, while those for other operational lines were housed at the Metro Bhawan near Connaught Place.
