Delhi Metro Advisory For Independence Day: Check Timings, Key Station Open To Visit Red Fort & Other Details

In a bid to facilitate public access to the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort, the Delhi Metro will initiate its services earlier than usual on Thursday, August 15, 2024.

The metro will commence operations at 4:00 AM from all terminal stations across its lines.

Just two days before the Independence Day, DMRC has tweeted on the social media with the advisory for the August 15 for the travellers. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, DMRC wrote, " METRO SERVICES TO COMMENCE AT 04:00 AM ON INDEPENDENCE DAY."

From 4:00 AM to 6:00 AM, trains will run every 15 minutes to accommodate the increased passenger volume. After 6:00 AM, the Delhi Metro will revert to its regular timetable for the remainder of the day. To assist those attending the Independence Day ceremony, passengers holding a bona fide Invitation Card issued by the Ministry of Defence will be granted entry and allowed to travel on production of a valid government-issued photo ID.

This arrangement is specifically for travel to and from Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, and Chandni Chowk Metro stations, which are in close proximity to the Red Fort. Invitation Card holders will also be able to use the same cards for their return journey from these three stations.

Regular announcements will be made inside the trains to inform passengers of these arrangements. The cost of travel for these passengers will be reimbursed to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) by the Ministry of Defence. This special arrangement aims to ensure smooth and efficient transportation for attendees of the high-profile Independence Day event.
