Delhi-Meerut RRTS: Final Phase Testing Begins, Full Corridor Nears Launch: List of stations

Trial runs of the Namo Bharat train on the last section between New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan began over the weekend, marking a major advancement for the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). This development promises a significant reduction in travel time throughout the National Capital Region and brings the 82-kilometer high-speed corridor closer to full-scale operations.

To test the signaling systems of the newly energized section, a Namo Bharat train was manually driven at regulated speeds in the first trial, which took place late Saturday evening. The train crossed the Yamuna River for the first time during this test, passing over the Ring Road and the Barapullah flyover before arriving at Sarai Kale Khan station, according to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).

India's first semi-high-speed regional rail service, the Delhi-Meerut RRTS, was built to offer quick, air-conditioned travel between Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut. The corridor will have 25 stations when it is finished, greatly reducing the daily commute times for thousands of commuters.

Sarai Kale Khan is being developed as a multimodal transport hub, with seamless connectivity to the Delhi Metro's Pink Line, Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station, the ISBT, and Ring Road bus services.

There are currently 11 stations along the 55-kilometer Namo Bharat train route between Meerut South and New Ashok Nagar. Later this year, it is expected that the entire corridor will be operational, allowing travelers to get from Sarai Kale Khan to Modipuram in less than an hour. The project has entered its final testing phase, with systems and civil work at Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar stations almost finished.
