Delhi Lok Sabha Election Results 2024: Meet The BJP Candidates Who Swept All 7 Seats

The polling for all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi occurred on 25th May. The counting of votes took place on Tuesday. According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won all seven seats.

Delhi experienced a three-way contest involving the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-Congress alliance, and Mayawati's Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP).

1. Who Is Praveen Khandelwal?

Praveen Khandelwal defeated Jai Prakash Aggarwal of the INC, securing 53.5 per cent of the votes.

He is a businessperson and social worker who entered into Indian politics as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate. The BJP selected him to contest the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 general elections.

Praveen began his career as a successful businessman through traditional trading. Over time, he expanded his ventures and established the Fairdeal Group, which operates in various sectors such as textiles, education, hotels, and real estate.

He launched the "Indian Goods - Our Pride" campaign to encourage people to use products made in India, promoting a self-reliant nation. He also advocated for boycotting Chinese goods to reduce imports from China.

On August 15, 2021, India's Independence Day, Praveen Khandelwal introduced Bharat-e-Market, a new online shopping platform. This platform aims to compete with major companies like Amazon India and Flipkart, with support from Walnut.

Praveen is also dedicated to education, helping to establish many schools and colleges. Additionally, he is involved in environmental protection, supporting various projects aimed at safeguarding the environment.

Praveen Khandelwal received his BA degree from Ramjas College, University of Delhi, in 1980. He later completed his LLB from the same institution in 1983.

2. Who is Manoj Kumar Tiwari?

Manoj Kumar Tiwari defeated Kanhaiya Kumar of the Congress party by a margin of 138,778 votes.

He is a singer and actor turned politician from Bihar. Before entering politics, he was involved in Bhojpuri cinema. He has acted alongside Bollywood superstars like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Ajay Devgan, Mithun Chakraborty, and Jackie Shroff.

Additionally, Manoj has appeared in several TV shows, including BIG BOSS Season 4, Welcome - Baazi Mehman Nawaz Ki, and Savdhan India - UP Fights Back. He has also been featured in various singing reality shows like Chak De Bachche, Bharat Ki Shaan Seasons 2 and 3, Sur Sangram Seasons 1 and 2, Suron Ka Maha Sangram, Nehle Pe Dehla, and Folk Jalwa.

For the past 10 years, he has been performing concerts abroad, blending traditional Bhojpuri folk songs with modern music styles.

Besides his career in singing and acting, Manoj is a skilled cricket player. He was the captain of the Banaras Hindu University cricket team, which won the East Zone Championship.

Manoj entered politics by contesting the 2009 national elections for the Samajwadi Party. He later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) shortly before the 2014 elections. In his debut in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from North East Delhi, he won against the Aam Aadmi Party's Anand Kumar by 144,084 votes.

On November 30th, 2016, he became the President of the Delhi BJP. In the 2019 general elections, as a BJP candidate, he defeated the Indian National Congress candidate Sheila Dikshit in the North East Delhi constituency by a significant margin of 3.63 lakh votes. He was re-elected from the same constituency, defeating Congress' Kanhaiya Kumar.

Manoj Kumar Tiwari completed his schooling at Shri Kamlakar Chaubey Adarsh Seva Vidyalay Intermediate College, Varanasi, and graduated from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) with a degree in Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed).

3. Who is Bansuri Swaraj?

Bansuri Swaraj won by a margin of 78,370 votes against AAP's Somnath Bharti from the New Delhi constituency.

She was born on January 3, 1984, in New Delhi, India, and is the only child of Sushma Swaraj, former External Affairs Minister, and Swaraj Kaushal, former Governor of Mizoram. She comes from a Hindu Brahmin family.

She serves as a secretary in the BJP's Delhi unit.

Before entering politics, Bansuri was the Additional Advocate General for Haryana and practised law at the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court of India.

Bansuri completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Warwick with a B.A. (Hons) in English Literature. She then studied law at BPP Law School in London and qualified as a Barrister at Law, being called to the bar from the Hon'ble Inn of Inner Temple, London. She also completed a Master of Studies from St. Catherine's College at the University of Oxford.

4. Who Is Kamaljeet Sehrawat?

Kamaljeet Sehrawat won the West Delhi constituency with 8.42 lakh votes, achieving a margin of over 1.99 lakh votes and a 55 per cent vote share. AAP's Mahabal Mishra came second with 6.43 lakh votes.

Kamaljeet Sehrawat was born on 29th September 1972 in Amberhai village, Delhi. She comes from a Dahiya Jat family.

In the 2024 general elections, she was elected from the West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency on a BJP ticket.

Kamaljeet has a strong background in public service. She has served as the General Secretary of BJP Delhi, former Mayor of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), and a member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Her track record shows her dedication to working tirelessly for the betterment of the nation.

She is passionate about representing the interests of the people of West Delhi and ensuring their voices are heard at the highest levels of government. Her commitment to public service is evident in her role as a Councillor for Ward No - 120 (Dwarka B), where she has worked closely with constituents to address their needs and concerns.

Kamaljeet Sehrawat holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce Honours (B Com), a Master's degree in Commerce (M Com), a teaching degree (B. Ed), a Law degree, and a Diploma in computer skills.

5. Who Is Ramveer Singh Bidhuri?

Ranveer Singh Bidhuri won the South Delhi constituency with 53.5 per cent of the votes, defeating AAP's Sahi Ram.

Ranveer Singh Bidhuri has a long and storied political career. He was first elected to the Delhi Legislative Assembly in 1993 and has since been re-elected four times. In 2020, after his fourth election victory, he was elected as the leader of the BJP Legislature party and became the leader of the opposition with the status of a cabinet minister. Additionally, he was nominated as a member of the BJP's national executive in 2013.

His political journey began in the late 1960s as a student leader aligned with the Indian National Congress (INC). He held various significant roles within the INC, including General Secretary of the Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress and General Secretary of the Kisan and Backward Classes cell of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) during the 1970s and 1980s.

Bidhuri's political affiliations shifted over the years. He briefly served in the Haryana state government and later joined the Janata Dal, where he held the position of National General Secretary from 1991 to 1996. During his time with Janata Dal, he contested and won the Delhi Legislative Assembly elections in 1993 from the Badarpur segment.

After a brief return to the INC, Bidhuri joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) before the 2003 Delhi elections, where he narrowly won against his previous rival, Ram Singh Netaji, who had since joined the INC.

In 2008, Bidhuri returned to the INC but faced defeat in the Badarpur seat against Ram Singh Netaji, who contested on the Bahujan Samaj Party's (BSP) ticket.

His political journey took another turn in 2013 when he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and achieved a significant victory over Ram Singh Netaji, who represented the INC in that election.

Although poised to serve a full term in the Assembly, his tenure was cut short by the imposition of President's rule in Delhi in early 2014, leading to the dissolution of the Assembly.

Ranveer Singh Bidhuri was born on 4 December 1952 in Tughlakabad, New Delhi. He is married to Rajeshwari, and they have two sons.

Bidhuri graduated from Desh Bandhu Gupta College of Delhi University with a bachelor's degree in Arts in 1973.

6. Who is Yogender Chandolia?

Yogender Chandolia won the North West Delhi constituency with 58.3 per cent of the votes, defeating INC's Udit Raj.

He has been actively involved in politics since his college days. He began his political journey as a member of the Municipal Council of Dev Nagar, Karol Bagh area of Delhi. Over the years, he has been elected multiple times as a councillor.

Throughout his career, Chandolia has held significant positions, including Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). He has even served as Mayor.

Chandolia has contested corporation elections twice, representing the Dev Nagar constituency. Despite facing defeat in the Delhi Assembly elections in 2015 and 2020, he has been selected by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest in the 18th Lok Sabha election from the North West Delhi constituency. This marks his first entry into national-level politics.

Currently, Chandolia holds the position of General Secretary in the Delhi BJP state. His commitment to the welfare of the people and his extensive experience in governance make him a respected leader in Delhi's political arena.

Yogender Chandolia studied at Shivaji College, Delhi, and has no criminal cases registered against him.

7. Who Is Harsh Malhotra?

Harsh Malhotra defeated Kuldeep Kumar of the AAP from the East Delhi seat by winning 52.6 per cent of the votes.

He is already a Member of Parliament from East Delhi. He also serves as the General Secretary of the BJP in Delhi and is the former Mayor of East Delhi. Additionally, he is the President of Dadhichi Dehdan Samiti.

Harsh Malhotra obtained a degree in L.L.B. from Delhi University in 1987.
