Delhi: Heroin worth Rs 40 cr seized, 2 arrested
Delhi, June 29: Delhi Police's Special Cell has reportedly arrested two people and seized 10 kg of contraband substance Heroin. The seized narcotic is said to be worth Rs 40 Crore approximately.

In April, Delhi Police seized 29 kg of heroin from Nigerian and Afghan nationals. The consignment, estimated to be worth crores, was smuggled into Kashmir from Afghanistan and was meant to be sold in India and sent abroad to Europe and US.
In the same month, Heroin valued at Rs one crore was seized by the NCB officials from West Bengal's Murshidabad district and one person was arrested.
In February, the Border Security Force (BSF) had gunned down a Pakistani smuggler and recovered 10 Kg heroin in Punjab's Ferozepur sector.
Last year in December, the BSF confiscated about 55 kg heroin worth Rs 5 crore in Punjab's Gurdaspur district. It was one of the biggest contraband seizures along the Indo-Pak border in recent times.
Opium, heroin and other contraband substances being smuggled into Punjab from Pakistan has emerged as a major problem in recent times. Narcotics being pushed into India by Pakistan smugglers is seen as a major reason behind Punjab drug menace.
