Delhi Encounter: Bihar's Ranjan Pathak Gang Members Killed In Rohini

In a dramatic late-night operation, four members of Bihar's feared Ranjan Pathak gang were gunned down by a joint team of Delhi Police Crime Branch and Bihar Police in Rohini, Delhi. The encounter unfolded around 2:20 AM on Thursday between Dr. Ambedkar Chowk and Pansali Chowk on Bahadur Shah Marg, following intelligence that the gang was plotting a major crime ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.

The deceased-Ranjan Pathak (25), Bimlesh Mahto alias Bimlesh Sahni (25), Manish Pathak (33), and Aman Thakur (21)-were all natives of Sitamarhi, Bihar, and had long rap sheets involving multiple murders, armed robberies, and extortion. Among their alleged victims were Brahmashri Sena district head Ganesh Sharma, Madan Sharma, and Aditya Singh.

According to officials, the gang had been under surveillance after intercepts revealed plans to disrupt public order during the upcoming polls. When police moved in to intercept the suspects, the gang opened fire, triggering a fierce exchange. All four were critically injured in the shootout and later declared dead at Dr. BSA Hospital in Rohini.

DCP Crime Branch Sanjeev Yadav confirmed the operation, stating that the crackdown was based on "credible inputs regarding the movement of the Ranjan Pathak-Manish Pathak gang in Delhi." Forensic teams and senior officers from both states arrived at the scene shortly after the encounter to begin a detailed investigation.

Ranjan Pathak, the gang's alleged kingpin, was wanted in at least eight criminal cases and carried a ₹25,000 bounty on his arrest. He had previously taunted Delhi Police through social media, with one audio message reportedly outlining plans for violence ahead of the elections.

Cases under the Arms Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita had been registered against the gang in Dumra, Chaurat, Gahra, and Purnahiya. Authorities say further investigation is underway to dismantle the remaining network and trace any accomplices still at large.

Responding to the encounter, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain told ANI: "Our government is against crime and criminals. The criminals will not be spared, whether in Bihar or any other part of the nation..."
