Delhi Election: Kejriwal Accuses BJP Of 'Loving Ravana' Amid Row Over 'Ramayana Deer' Remark
Amid a controversy surrounding his remarks about the "deer in Ramayana," Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of having an affinity for Ravana.
Speaking at a press conference, the former Delhi Chief Minister stated that the BJP had a "demonic nature" and would devour slum dwellers like demons.

"Yesterday, I said that Ravana appeared as a golden deer and Mother Sita desired that deer. Now, they are claiming it was not Ravana but the demon Marichi in disguise. The entire BJP is protesting outside my house, asking why I insulted Ravana. They have such love for Ravana. They are demonic. I want to warn the slum-dwellers and the poor sections of Delhi that if they come to power, they will devour you like demons," Kejriwal said, as reported by news agency ANI.
BJP leader Manoj Tiwari responded by suggesting Kejriwal's statements revealed his disconnection from Hinduism. He called Kejriwal a "Vidharmi."
"I am not at all surprised by his statement, as we know that Arvind Kejriwal tries to be a 'Chunavi' Hindu during elections. He has been exposed. Everything he said yesterday shows that he has no connection to Hinduism or Sanatan. The golden deer in the Ramayana is well known. This Vidharmi Arvind Kejriwal is claiming that Ravana came disguised as the deer," Tiwari told reporters.
Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva also took aim at Kejriwal, questioning his sudden interest in temples. He accused the AAP leader of "insulting" Sanatan Dharma and "misinterpreting" the Ramcharitmanas.
The Delhi Assembly election is scheduled for February 5, with results expected to be declared on February 8.
