Delhi Earthquake: Residents Share Reactions On Social Media - 'Forced Me Out Of Bed'

People in Delhi and the surrounding National Capital Region (NCR) woke up to an earthquake in the early hours of Monday. At around 5:37 am, strong tremors were felt across Delhi-NCR, reportedly lasting for a few seconds.

The National Centre for Seismology (NCS) confirmed the earthquake through a post on X. According to the NCS, the quake had a magnitude of 4 and occurred at a depth of 5 km.

How people reacted

People quickly took to the social media platform X, to share their experiences of waking up to the unexpected tremors.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tajinder Bagga posted a single-word message on X, asking if others had felt the tremors. "Earthquake?" he wrote, to which many people responded in agreement.

Congress leader Alka Lamba had a similar reaction. On her X account, she posted, "Earthquake..." and received several replies confirming the tremors.

Another BJP leader, Shehzad Poonawala, posted, "Major earthquake tremors felt! Oh".

Apart from political figures, many residents also shared their reactions on X.

One user remarked that while her alarm had failed to wake her up, the earthquake had managed to do so. "What my alarm couldn't do, a very strong but short earthquake did. I woke up and ran to save my life...." she posted.

Another user described it as the "most insane" earthquake they had ever experienced.

Someone else commented that the tremor had forced them out of bed, calling it "massive". "You know it's a massive one when it forces you out of your sleep and out of bed," the user posted.

One user noted that their entire housing society had been alerted by the *"very strong"* earthquake, which lasted "a couple of seconds".

Another described it as "short but violent", posting: "A short but violent earthquake just woke me up... Delhi... anyone else awake and felt that?"

A video shared by a user showed a ceiling fan shaking, captioned: "Earthquake in Delhi NCR".

One user, who called the tremor "severe", shared that he was in a hospital when it occurred and was yet to evacuate all the patients.
