Delhi Crime Report 2025 Shows Major Dip Murder, Rape, Robbery Cases

Fresh crime figures from Delhi Police suggest that daily life in the Capital became somewhat safer in 2025. Serious offences reduced in several key categories, and more cases reached closure. Police officials link this trend to tighter monitoring, stronger field action and wider use of technology, supported by residents sharing information more actively.

The data also shows better results in investigations. In most major crime heads, the proportion of cases solved rose compared with 2024. Police attribute this to closer supervision of probes, faster use of digital tools and quicker coordination between different police units across districts.

Delhi Police crime data 2025 on safety trends

Crimes against women showed a noticeable fall, both in volume and in some disposal rates. In 2025, Delhi Police recorded 1,708 cases of molestation and other offences against women, compared with 2,345 such cases in 2023. Of the 2025 cases, 95.20 per cent were solved, indicating stronger follow-up on many complaints.

Eve-teasing, often a key concern for younger residents, also reduced over the three-year period. Police report that a sizable share of these cases ended in chargesheets or closure. According to the figures, 89.02 per cent of eve-teasing cases registered in 2025 were successfully resolved, which officials say reflects quicker local response.

Delhi Police underline that serious violent crime also moved downward in 2025. Murder cases fell to 491 in 2025, from 504 in 2024 and 506 in 2023. Of the 2025 murder cases, 95.32 per cent were solved. Attempt to murder cases dropped to 854 in 2025 from 898 in 2024, although 2023 had a lower figure of 757.

Delhi Police crime data 2025 on specific offences

Robbery incidents showed a steady decline, paired with a strong record of detection. In 2023, 1,654 robbery cases were registered. This fell to 1,510 in 2024 and further to 1,326 in 2025. Police solved 97.51 per cent of robbery cases in 2025, suggesting that patrol patterns and rapid follow-up had some impact on street crime.

Snatching, another everyday worry for commuters, also reduced across the three years. Delhi Police logged 7,886 snatching cases in 2023 and 6,493 in 2024. The figure dropped again in 2025 to 5,406 cases. Of these 2025 incidents, 64.22 per cent were solved. Officials say they aim to lift this rate through better identification of repeat offenders.

Extortion remains a weaker spot in the Delhi Police crime data 2025 picture. Extortion cases rose from 204 in 2023 to 228 in 2024, before easing to 212 in 2025. However, only 63.68 per cent of these 2025 cases were solved. Police state that operations are underway to improve detection in extortion, which often involves organised groups.

Rape cases also show a slow downward trend in the Capital. Delhi Police recorded 2,141 rape cases in 2023, 2,076 in 2024 and 1,901 in 2025. According to the figures, 97.11 per cent of rape cases registered in 2025 were closed, which includes both charge-sheeted and otherwise disposed matters, pointing to faster completion of investigations.

Across all these categories, Delhi Police say the overall pattern shows gains in crime control during 2025. Officials credit continuous monitoring, enforcement of law and order, technical surveillance and public cooperation for the shifts. At the same time, they acknowledge gaps in areas like extortion and snatching, where more focused work is still in progress.
