Delhi Crime: CCTV Footage Shows SUV Killing 60-Year-Old Security Guard

A 60-year-old security guard died in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar West after an alleged attack and deliberate ramming by an SUV, police said. CCTV footage, skid marks and forensic clues have led investigators to suspect the killing was intentional, and several police teams are now working to trace the vehicle and its occupants.

According to officers, preliminary findings show that the guard, Bijender Bharadwaj, argued with the SUV occupants shortly before the assault near a tempo stand in Peeragarhi village. Police have warned that the CCTV visuals are disturbing and have said the recording is being used to piece together the precise chain of events that followed.

Investigators said the video first shows the SUV parked in a corner with headlights on, while Bijender sits on a chair close by. Around 2.52 am, one accused person exits the vehicle carrying a large stick and appears to strike the guard, who then tries to run from the spot.

Police stated that the attacker gets back into the SUV and allegedly drives towards Bijender, knocking the guard towards a corner. When Bijender attempts to reach the main road, the vehicle allegedly hits him again. The accused then drive away from the area at around 2.54 am, the footage indicates.

Officers said skid marks found at the location suggest the driver may have braked or turned sharply, strengthening the suspicion of a deliberate act. Investigators also believe, based on the footage, that Bijender might have been specifically targeted, though they stressed that all possible motives and angles are still being examined.

One officer said, "CCTV footage in and around the area revealed that the deceased was run over twice by a four-wheeler. The footage is being examined thoroughly to identify the vehicle and reconstruct the exact sequence of events and what led to the matter," adding that teams are reviewing videos frame by frame.

Police said a PCR call about the incident reached them at about 4.03 am on Sunday. When a team arrived at the tempo stand entry gate near Shri Shidh Baba Mandir, officers found Bijender lying unconscious on the road. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Investigators have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Paschim Vihar West police station. A forensic science laboratory team and crime branch officials inspected the area, collecting samples and technical evidence. Police units from the sub-division crack teams and Outer district operations units have been assigned to locate the SUV and identify the accused.

Police said there were no eyewitnesses at the site when officers arrived. Teams are now scanning CCTV cameras at nearby roads, traffic junctions and commercial buildings to follow the SUV’s route. According to relatives, the vehicle’s registration number is not clear in the recording, which has made identification harder for investigators.

Bijender’s nephew, Sunil Bhardwaj, said the guard had worked at the tempo stand for about a year and had no known disputes. "We learned about the incident around 3.30 pm. My uncle was a simple man," he said. Police have stated that the investigation is active and that efforts continue to locate the suspects and the SUV.
