Delhi Crime: Armed Assailants Target Gym, Firing Sparks Panic

Shots were fired at a gym in Paschim Vihar in outer Delhi on the night between Monday and Tuesday, triggering panic but causing no injuries, according to police. Soon after, a social media post emerged in which the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was allegedly linked to the attack, prompting a wider investigation.

Police said teams rushed to R K Gym after a call about the late-night firing. The area was sealed off and forensic specialists were brought in to examine the scene. Officers recovered a live cartridge and began scanning CCTV cameras in nearby lanes to track how the shooters arrived and escaped.

Investigators are now examining a social media message allegedly posted by Randeep Malik, associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. In the post, Malik appears to claim responsibility for the incident and suggests that the gym’s owner was targeted because a phone call from the gang was not answered, police officials said.

Police response to Lawrence Bishnoi gang post

A senior officer told PTI that a case has been registered and several teams formed to trace those behind the firing. Police said they are checking the authenticity of the online claim linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and exploring every possible motive, including extortion, personal rivalry and inter-gang competition.

According to police, CCTV footage from different angles around Paschim Vihar is being reviewed to map the attackers’ movements. Officers aim to reconstruct the entire sequence, from their arrival near the gym to their getaway route. Officials said all possible angles are being examined as part of the inquiry.
