Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Offers Special Prayers At Gauri Shankar Temple On Somnath Temple’s 75th Year

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta led special prayers at the historic Gauri Shankar Temple as the country marked 75 years of the reconstruction of the Somnath Temple. The event turned into a major spiritual gathering in the national capital, with devotees joining rituals and chanting "Har Har Mahadev" throughout the day.

Accompanied by Cabinet Ministers Parvesh Verma, Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Kapil Mishra, Rekha Gupta participated in a special jal abhishek ceremony and offered prayers for peace, prosperity and the nation's progress.

Speaking during the programme, Rekha Gupta described the Somnath Temple as a symbol of India's spiritual identity, cultural strength and Sanatan tradition. Gupta said the repeated reconstruction of the temple after several invasions reflects the resilience of Indian civilisation and the enduring faith of millions of devotees.

The Delhi Chief Minister also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "development along with heritage," saying India is moving forward rapidly while preserving its cultural and spiritual roots. According to Gupta, India's traditions and heritage are now gaining renewed recognition across the world.

The programme at the Gauri Shankar Temple was linked to the national celebrations taking place at the Somnath Temple in Gujarat, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi also offered special prayers. A live broadcast of the Somnath rituals was arranged for devotees gathered in Delhi.

The temple premises in Chandni Chowk were specially decorated for the occasion, with large crowds arriving from early morning to participate in the celebrations. Devotees welcomed Rekha Gupta with chants of "Bam Bam Bhole" and "Har Har Mahadev," while security remained tight around the temple throughout the event.

As India commemorates 75 years of the reconstruction of the Somnath Temple, Rekha Gupta said the occasion serves as a reminder that faith, heritage and modern development can move forward together while keeping India's cultural identity at the centre.
