Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Inaugurates Water ATMs in Shalimar Bagh to Boost Access to Safe Drinking Water

Delhi took a step forward in improving access to clean drinking water as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a new set of water ATMs in Shalimar Bagh on Wednesday. The initiative is aimed at providing safe and affordable drinking water to residents, particularly in areas where consistent supply remains a challenge.

During the event, the Chief Minister dedicated the water ATMs to the public and also distributed smart water ATM cards to local residents, enabling easy and regulated access to purified water. The newly installed units are equipped with advanced 5-stage RO purification technology and are capable of dispensing up to 2,000 litres of clean drinking water per hour.

Officials said the project is part of a broader effort to strengthen Delhi's water infrastructure and ensure equitable access to potable water across neighborhoods. The government has earmarked an investment of around ₹9,000 crore to enhance water supply systems and expand distribution networks in the coming years.

Speaking at the inauguration, CM Rekha Gupta emphasized that access to clean drinking water is a basic necessity and a key component of urban development. She noted that such initiatives will contribute significantly to building a more inclusive and sustainable city.

The event was attended by representatives from Indian Oil Corporation, along with local officials and community members, marking a collaborative effort to address one of the capital's most pressing civic needs.
