'Onion prices to come down after Diwali'
New Delhi, Nov 2: Diwali, according to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, will bring some relief for the common man as the onion prices are set to come down.

According to Dikshit the onion prices in the national capital would come down after Diwali as the new stocks will be arriving by this week, she said on Saturday.

Dikshit said that her government has spoken to the onion suppliers from various states and had managed to get stocks of onion to tackle the crisis. "The wholesale price of onion will be Rs 10 whereas the retail price will be around Rs 45- 46," she said.

Dikshit: The wholesale price of onion will be Rs 10

Dikshit had come to power after she has defeated the then BJP government in 1998 riding on high onion prices.

She, however has received flak for not taking appropriate measures to curb the on-going onion price crisis.

Her government had started selling onions in mobile vans at a cheaper rate, but even that came under the scrutiny of the people who alleged that the quality of those onions were very poor and that they were still buying onions from retail markets marked at Rs 70-80.
