Delhi Biker Dies After Falling Into Deep Pit Dug For Water Board Work In Janakpuri

A tragic accident in West Delhi's Janakpuri area claimed the life of a biker who fell into a massive roadside pit on Friday. Disturbing photos circulating on social media show the victim lying beside his Apache RTR 200 motorcycle at the bottom of the ditch. He was reportedly wearing a helmet, riding jacket and gloves at the time of the incident.

Construction Work Under Scanner

Sources indicated that construction linked to the Delhi Jal Board was underway at the accident site, where a large ditch had been dug on the road. The circumstances have raised fresh concerns about safety measures at active construction zones and whether adequate warnings were in place for commuters.

The biker has been identified as Kamal. According to his family, he had informed them that he was in the Janakpuri District Centre area before becoming unreachable. When repeated calls went unanswered and his phone was reportedly switched off, the family began searching for him and visited multiple police stations in an effort to trace his whereabouts.

Family's Search Ends In Tragedy

Police reportedly shared Kamal's last known location with the family, but he could not be located immediately. Hours later, authorities informed them that his body had been discovered in the pit, bringing a heartbreaking end to their search.

The incident has intensified questions around urban infrastructure projects and the risks posed to motorists when safety protocols are not strictly followed.

Similar Fatal Accident Reported Recently

The Janakpuri tragedy comes just days after another fatal mishap in Noida highlighted similar dangers. On January 16, a 27-year-old software engineer, Yuvraj Mehta, lost his life after his car plunged into a water-filled pit near a construction site in Sector 150 around midnight.

Mehta, who lived in the Tata Eureka Park society in Sector 150, worked with a company in Gurugram and was returning home from work when the accident occurred. His Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara fell into the pit that had been dug for the basement of an under-construction building.

Back-to-back incidents have once again drawn attention to the need for stricter safeguards at construction locations to prevent such avoidable fatalities.
