Gadkari's Big Announcement

Their collective proposals have paved the way for this substantial funding under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Gadkari emphasized that these initiatives would significantly reduce vehicular pressure from outside Delhi, thereby curtailing both traffic congestion and air pollution. "Along with this, a CRIF fund of Rs 1200 crore was also announced in Delhi," he further stated.

Breaking down the financial plan, Gadkari elaborated on the allocation of Rs 2,500 crore to facilitate connectivity from the Urban Extension Road II (UER-II) to the Delhi-Katra Expressway via the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway (KMPE).

This strategic infrastructure will enable direct access for vehicles traveling from Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab to the Indira Gandhi International Airport and the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Additionally, a sum of Rs 2,200 crore will be utilized to connect UER-II near Alipur with the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway near Tronica City, enhancing the travel experience for commuters heading to Dehradun from Haryana and Rajasthan. This connection also offers an alternative route to the Indira Gandhi International Airport via UER-II and the Dwarka Expressway, reducing travel time significantly.

Furthermore, Gadkari announced the construction of a 5 km tunnel, costing Rs 3,500 crore, from Shiv Murti to Nelson Mandela Marg (Vasant Kunj). This project aims to address the chronic traffic congestion in the Mahipalpur and Rangpuri areas, offering relief to the residents of Delhi and Gurugram. Another notable project involves establishing a link from the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway to Noida, acting as an essential bypass for East Delhi and facilitating direct connectivity from North Delhi, North-West Delhi, and South-West Delhi to Noida via Ghaziabad. The budget for this extensive endeavor amounts to Rs 4,400 crore.

Gadkari's vision extends beyond these immediate projects, with plans to inject an astounding Rs 1 lakh crore into Delhi's infrastructure over the next two years. This ambitious investment signifies a transformative phase for the city's transport network, aiming at a sustainable and efficient future for its citizens.

This comprehensive strategy not only aims to improve the quality of life for Delhi's residents but also sets a precedent for urban development and environmental stewardship in India. The concerted efforts of the government and local stakeholders underscore a commitment to tackling the pressing challenges of urbanization, showcasing a path toward a cleaner, greener, and more accessible capital.
