Corporate Espionage- 5 energy company officials arrested

The probe into the corporte espionage case continueed with five more persons from corporate houses being arrested by the crime branch of the Delhi police. The five persons arrested are from Reliance Industries Ltd, Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, Essar, Jubiland Energy and Cairns.

Rishi Anand of Reliance ADAG, Vinay Kumar of Essar, Shailesh Saxena, RIL, K Naik from Cairns and Subhash Chandra of Jubilant Energy.

Names cropped up during investigation:

The Delhi police say that during the questioning of the accused the names of these persons working for corporate houses cropped up. We are probing to find out their role and also seeing if there were more persons involved in the case, police sources say.

It has been alleged that these persons were allegedly in touch with the other 7 persons arrested earlier. All of them were alleged to be involved in leaking secret government documents.

More ministries under scanner:

The Delhi police had earlier said that apart from the Petroleum ministry files from the coal and power ministries also could have been leaked.

The police are also checking to see if budget notes were passed on to corporate houses. We are checking further into this and the probe could well expand to other ministries as well, the officer informed.

In police custody:

Earlier in the day a Delhi court sent three persons to judicial custody while remanding the other four to police custody.

Asaram, Ishwar Singh and Raj Kumar were sent to 14-day judicial custody. Journalist Santanu Saikia, Prayas Jain, an energy consultant, Rakesh Kumar and Lalta Prasad sent to police custody till February 23.
