Congress wants curb on opinion polls, says they mislead people

New Delhi, Nov 3: The Congress has sought a curb on opinion polls before elections, saying such exercise misleads people. Opposition BJP shot back at the demand, saying it shows the Congress is scared of the poor predictions that such polls have been making about the latter.

CPI leader D Raja said the Congress should discuss the matter before reaching a conclusion. He said the Congress is perhaps worried over the recent opinion poll surveys that have mostly predicted a bad outcome for the ruling party. Most of the poll surveys have predicted a sharp fall in the Congress's seats in the next Lok Sabha elections and also poor show in the upcoming assembly polls in Rajasthan and Delhi, both ruled by it.
