Congress Guarantee In Delhi: ₹500 LPG Cylinder, Free Ration And No Power Bills For All
In a significant pledge to the citizens of Delhi, the Congress party has announced a comprehensive package of welfare measures designed to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by residents. This promise was made public on January 16, 2025, by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy during a press conference held in the national capital. Flanked by AICC Delhi in-charge Qazi Nizamuddin and Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav, Reddy outlined a series of initiatives intended to provide substantial relief to various segments of Delhi's population.

The party's commitment includes offering an LPG cylinder at the cost of ₹500, distributing free ration kits, and ensuring free electricity up to 300 units for all city dwellers if they emerge victorious in the upcoming elections. This announcement is part of the Congress's broader strategy to secure power in Delhi by addressing key issues that affect the daily lives of its residents. "Congress will fulfil its five guarantees if it will be elected to power in Delhi," Mr. Reddy stated, highlighting the party's determination to implement its promises.
Earlier in the month, the Congress had unveiled its 'Pyaari Didi Yojana,' a scheme aimed at empowering women through a monthly monetary grant of ₹2,500, showcasing the party's commitment to gender equality and women's welfare. This initiative was followed by the 'Jeevan Raksha Yojana' announced on January 8, which promises to provide Delhi's citizens with free health insurance coverage of up to ₹25 lakh, addressing the crucial need for accessible healthcare.
Adding to its array of welfare schemes, the party also pledged to support the educated unemployed youth of Delhi by offering them a monthly stipend of ₹8,500 for a year. This move is seen as an attempt to tackle the pressing issue of unemployment among the educated demographic in the city.
Upcoming Delhi Assembly Elections
The timing of these announcements comes as the city gears up for the 70-member Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 5, with the counting of votes set for February 8, 2025. These welfare propositions play a critical role in the Congress party's electoral strategy, aiming to garner support from a broad spectrum of voters by addressing their immediate needs.
