CM Rekha Gupta Announces Major Development Push For Matiala, Lays Foundation For ₹400 Crore Projects

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday laid the foundation stone for development projects worth nearly ₹400 crore in the Matiala Assembly constituency.

Reaffirming her commitment to rural development, the Chief Minister said that there would never be a shortage of funds for the growth of rural areas. She described the foundation laying as not merely symbolic construction work but as a strong foundation for better facilities, trust and improved quality of life for residents.

The Chief Minister stated that the Delhi government has approved a budget of around ₹400 crore for Matiala, which will accelerate development works in the constituency.

She emphasised that the government's aim is not to limit development to paperwork but to implement it on the ground and bring meaningful change to the lives of citizens. West Delhi MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Matiala MLA Sandeep Sehrawat, MCD Chairman from Najafgarh Zone Savita Sharma and other dignitaries were present at the event.

CM Gupta said that the projects will include strengthening roads, drains, drainage systems, parks, community spaces and other civic amenities. Construction of roads connecting rural and urban areas will improve connectivity, making travel easier and supporting local economic growth.

Highlighting the focus on rural upliftment, the Chief Minister said several new Aarogya Mandirs have been established in the area, ensuring better healthcare facilities close to home for residents.

Two Atal Canteens have also been launched in the Matiala Assembly constituency, providing nutritious meals at just ₹5, benefiting workers, the poor and other needy sections of society.

Additionally, new pipelines and tube wells are being installed in nearby villages to strengthen water supply and provide relief from water shortages.
Taking a swipe at previous governments, CM Gupta said rural areas were earlier kept entangled in announcements and promises, with little attention paid to basic infrastructure or implementation of development plans.

As a result, roads deteriorated, drainage and sewer facilities were neglected and villages remained cut off from the mainstream of development.

She added that the present Delhi government's vision is not limited to large projects but extends to development at the level of streets, neighbourhoods and villages. The projects launched in Matiala reflect this approach, focusing equally on infrastructure, civic amenities, sanitation and connectivity.

Expressing confidence in the outcome of these initiatives, CM Rekha Gupta said that once completed, the projects will transform Matiala into a strong model of development, convenience and public trust. She reiterated the government's commitment to building a modern, inclusive and self-reliant capital with the cooperation of its citizens.
