CCEA approves new coal block auction policy; Bidders get ready!

New Delhi, Sept 24: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Tuesday approved the

block auction policy for private companies, and with that, now companies can bid for coal blocks.

This is a move that is seen as likely to pave way for allotment of coalmines through competitive biddings for the first time.

The coal block auction policy is for private steel, cement and power firms.

According to reports, under the policy, the government will auction at least four coal blocks with nearly 2,000 million tonnes of estimates reserves before December.
