CBI files report on Coalgate probe in Supreme Court

New Delhi, Oct 22: The Central Bureau of Investigation (

) on Tuesday filed its status report on the Coalgate probe in the Supreme Court. The apex court is likely to take up the report on Oct 29.

CBI filed details of the cases which were over and mentioned other cases in its report. CBI registered 14 FIRs in the case so far.

According to report, the CBI shared details against Hindalco and others and also mentioned the progress in the remaining cases. Reports also suggest that the report contains details of the files related to the case that were missing from the Coal and Steel Ministeries.

The BJP had earlier alleged that the CBI was pressurised to save Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from the probe.

According to reports carried out on Times Now, sources said that the CBI wrote to the PMO asking it to handover the Hindalco files.
