BJP's CM Face in Delhi: Will Parvesh Verma Lead the Party?

As exit poll results indicate, the BJP is set to make a strong comeback after more than 25 years in the Delhi Assembly elections. The projections suggest the party could win anywhere between 35 and 40 seats in the 70-member Delhi Vidhan Sabha, which would bring an end to the decade-long dominance of Arvind Kejriwal's AAP in the national capital's legislature.

However, while the BJP's return seems likely, the contest is expected to be tight. AAP is projected to secure between 27 and 32 seats, reflecting a significant challenge to the BJP's resurgence. Congress, which failed to win a single seat in the previous elections in 2015 and 2020, is expected to either repeat its performance or secure at least one seat, depending on the final tally.

Parvesh Verma s Wife Backs BJP Win Avoids Discussing CM Face in Delhi Polls

BJP candidate for the New Delhi seat, Parvesh Verma, made three key promises to the residents. "It is certain that the Lotus will bloom on February 8th. We will provide good governance, a clean Yamuna, and employment opportunities in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal knows he's losing," stated Verma. It must be noted that he is contesting against AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in this election.

In a recent conversation with The New Indian, Swati Singh Verma, wife of BJP candidate Parvesh Verma, expressed her firm belief that the BJP will emerge victorious and form the next government in Delhi. While she confidently stated, "The results are clear-cut, BJP is coming to power," she chose to stay silent on the matter of whether her husband would be the chief minister.

Swati also pointed out that the electorate in Delhi is increasingly disillusioned with AAP's unfulfilled promises, which she believes have failed to lead to substantial development. "The people are really tired of AAP's promises and lack of development work, so BJP is coming back," she added, reflecting a sentiment shared by many voters in the capital who are looking for a change after years of AAP leadership.

As the final results await, the stage is set for a nail-biting conclusion to the high-stakes battle for Delhi's political future.
