BJP terms Shashi Tharoor's sacking 'absurd' while Congress justifies it

New Delhi, Oct 13: Minutes after news broke that

had decided to sack

from the post of party's official spokesperson, many Congress leaders justified the party's action.

Congress leader Shobha Oza said that the decision taken by the Congress high command has nothing to do with the recent developments in the Sunanda Tharoor case. She said: "Tharoor's statement supporting PM Modi's ‘Swachh Bharat campaign had created a lot of anger within the party.

After investigation, the party decided to sack Tharoor as the party spokesperson.' Meanwhile, another Congress leader, Sandeep Dikshit said that the party's job was to be the Opposition. "Our work is to be the opposition, not be a part of their work," he said.

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said: "A party spokesperson should behave like a spokesperson of the party and not a spokesperson of himself."

BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu said that Tharoor being sacked was 'absurd.' "Shashi Tharoor's removal as AICC spokesman is absurd and silly, Swachh Bharat not a political campaign," Naidu.
